Success Story | HAF UAP

Jamie is a mother of three residing in her home in Auglaize County.

As a result of the pandemic, she found herself experiencing financial hardships in the past two years. This led to her facing foreclosure on her home due to unpaid property taxes. Looking for help, she called the staff at our Auglaize County location where she learned about the Homeowner Assistance Fund – Utility Assistance Program (HAFUAP) which assists eligible homeowners in need of help with various housing expenses, one of which being property taxes. An application was faxed to her and she quickly completed the application to be determined for eligibility. WOCAP staff were able to make the process easier for Jamie by successfully completing everything without her having to come into our office. The staff diligently worked on the application and reached out to the Auglaize County Treasurer’s Office to arrange to make the payment for Jamie to save her home. The request for assistance was completed and now Jamie can keep her and her three children housed in their home. The whole family can feel secure in their home, especially with the holiday season approaching.
