Press Release
West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WOCAP) has received two additional funding sources for rent, property tax and utility assistance for eligible renters and homeowners who are behind on their bills. These funds can be used to help renters catch up on late payments due to job loss or illness due to COVID-19.
To be eligible for assistance renters need:
- To have an income that is below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI)
- An eviction or past due rent notice
- Past due mortgage or tax notice
- Proof of income for the last 90 days
- A Lease agreement (for rent)
- A landlord contact information/verification form (filled out by landlord)
- A hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic
- A copy of the utilities bill demonstrating the account has been shut off, is in disconnect status or is past due.
Additional documentation may be needed from clients depending on the funding source requirements.
Individuals can apply for assistance through WOCAP at this time by filling out the application on our website at www.wocap.org and providing the needed documentation. Once completed, the application and documents can be uploaded, emailed, faxed or dropped off at the WOCAP offices (Allen, Auglaize or Mercer).
WOCAP staff will contact the individual for a phone interview to process the application and get any remaining needed information. Checks will be sent out to landlords, lenders, tax departments, or utility providers once all paperwork is collected and processed.
Please note that WOCAP is currently experiencing a large volume of requests. Applications processing will be completed as quickly as possible after all documents are received. Your patience will be greatly appreciated during this time.
If you have any questions, please contact our WOCAP office at 419-227-2586.
